Betsey is an award-winning writer and expert in foundation and nonprofit branding and communications. An entrepreneur and consultant for more than 30 years, she brings research and writing expertise to Formation clients, helping those in the philanthropy and nonprofit sector express complex ideas in clear, compelling ways that build stronger relationships. She previously served as senior director of communications for Dogwood Health Trust, leading branding and communications for the start-up health conversion foundation. Her consulting work has supported leading philanthropies including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, The Duke Endowment, The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and the Packard Foundation.
Earlier in her career, Betsey founded WordOne, the Southeast’s first firm dedicated to strategic marketing communications for nonprofits and foundations. She is a graduate of Davidson College.
When she’s not at work, you can find her reading a good book, traveling at home and abroad, or hiking in the mountains surrounding her Asheville home.
